Hi everyone! It’s the Book Valkyrie! A few moments ago, I was attempting to find an interesting topic to blog about… and fortunately, I stumbled upon the Beauty and the Beast Book Tag (Originally found here)!! I love anything Disney, and Beauty and the Beast is one of my all time favourite films! So, why not create a blog post inspired by it? Without further ado, let’s begin!
“Oh what a guy, Gaston!” – A villain you can’t help but love:
This one is easy. Levana from the Lunar Chronicles! Yes, yes, she was a malicious, manipulative, evil-intentioned witch with a B, but I really appreciated the complexity of her character. She obviously had a troubled past that morphed her into the cruel, vindictive person she was. I’m not saying this excuses her diabolical actions, but it does provide some genuine background info.
“Here’s where she meets Prince Charming” – Your OTP:
This is tough. If you’re familiar with me at all, you’ll know that I am OBSESSED with fictional ships. Some of my favourites include Chaorene (Throne of Glass), Manorian (Throne of Glass), Lirelian (To Kill a Kingdom), Keephie (Keeper of the Lost Cities), and Kinder (the Lunar Chronicles).
“I want so much more than this provincial life” – A character destined for greater things:
Peony from the Lunar Chronicles. SADDEST FICTIONAL DEATH EVER!! Seriously, guys. I read these books like three years ago and I still haven’t gotten over them.
“Be our guest!” – A book that made you hungry:
All of the Keeper of the Lost Cities books! GIVE ME THE MALLOWMELT!!!
“Beauty and the Beast” – Opposites attract:
Guys, I couldn’t think of anything else, so I’m just going to say Lira and Elian. Come on, they were literally different species that were out for each other’s blood! They practically DEFINE opposites.
“But there’s something in him that I simply didn’t see” – A character who is more than they appear:
Kaltain from the Throne of Glass books. YES I hate her and YES she was totally annoying, but I appreciated the development of her character throughout the series.
“I was innocent and certain, now I’m wiser but unsure” – A book that changed you in some way:
Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
“Kill the Beast!” – A book you picked up because of the hype:
The Fault in Our Stars. Sadly, my expectations weren’t met.
“I’ll never shake away the pain” – A book or moment that always makes you cry:
Girl Made of Stars by Ashley H. Blake. Just typing up its title makes me want to break down in sobs.
And… That’s it for today!
I hope you had as much fun reading this as I did making it! I’ll be back with more reviews, tags, and challenges soon!
Until next time,
The Book Valkyrie
